Romanian journalist reports receiving death threats

Emilia Șercan, an investigative journalist from Romania, recently posted on Facebook about having received death threats. Part of her work has focused on cases of plagiarism by high-ranking officials, with some in educational institutions such as the Police Academy. According to the journalist, messages have indicated that the threats are related to such work.

Șercan says she has reported the threats to Bucharest Police, the Romanian Interior Ministry and Romanial General Police Inspectorate. The press freedom community operating in Romania has  also taken action on behalf of the investigative journalist, having sent open letters to the Interior Minister and General Police Inspectors.
